The leadership of the Bar Association of La Plata obtained a tight victory last night by 82 votes. The list “Pluralism and Participation” garnered 1,091 votes, against 1,009 votes for “Abogacía Unida” (linked to sectors of Peronism).
Both groups shared the positions to be elected for the period 2022-2026: three regular directors for each, two alternate directors for each group, the four positions for the disciplinary tribunal were divided equally. “Pluralism and Participation” was left with the two positions of representatives of the professional association in the Caja de la Abogacía, as reported last night.
The leadership of the school presented Gastón Nicosia as the first candidate for principal counselor. The list added 42 percent. Meanwhile, the “Abogacía Unida” list had Marina Mongiardino in first place on the ballot and obtained 39 percent.
In third place was the “New School” list, which led Claudia Gremme as the first candidate for titular councillor. She got 11 percent (303 votes).
The list “Avanza Cambio Colegial” (libertarians) closed the election with 5 percent (145 votes). This group led Marcelo Peña as the main candidate, who had filed a legal appeal this week to suspend the elections, objecting to different aspects of the electoral process.
“New School” and “Avanza Cambio Colegial” did not agree to any of the charges that were at stake.
In total, 2,583 registered participants participated in this election, considerably less than last year’s vote, in which the current president, Rosario Sánchez, was elected. In 2021, more than 4,000 registrants participated.
