An era is coming to an end at Juventus: Captain Giorgio Chiellini will leave the “old lady” after 17 years at the end of the season.
This is what the 37-year-old defender announces after Juve’s defeat in the Coppa Italia final against Inter.
“They were fantastic years. Now it’s the boys’ turn. I gave everything and I hope to leave something behind,” says Chiellini, who, as recently announced, will end his career in the national team in the summer. “I don’t know yet if I’m going to stop completely. I have to discuss that with my family. I’m still at a good level.”
Career end in the USA?
The 2020 European champion’s contract with Juve would run until the summer of 2023, but there will probably be a mutual agreement at the end of the season.
Recently there have been rumors that Chiellini could end his career in the USA. The Major League Soccer transfer window opens on July 7th.
Chiellini has made 559 appearances for Juve and scored 36 goals. Overall, he won the league nine times and the cup five times with the Turin team.
