You are currently viewing The iPhone with USB-C may be a reality in 2023: Ming-Chi Kuo unleashes the ‘hype’ with a tweet

We always comment that one move that Apple could make to circumvent the European initiative to unify all ports in the USB-C connection is to launch an iPhone without ports, but now Ming-Chi Kuo has published that in 2023 we could see just what the Commission European wants: an iPhone with a USB-C port.

An adoption “reluctantly” but that many would appreciate

Kuo believes that the USB-C port will arrive during the second half of 2023, so we would be talking about the iPhone 15. According to the analyst, this would further improve the charging speed of the phone as well as its data transfer speed, although the latter has also been rumored for a future version of the Lightning port that we could see even with the iPhone 14.

Now the final specs. “would depend on iOS support” that Apple decides to establish. It shouldn’t take too much work, considering the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini already have that port. Kuo also expects vendors to increasingly focus on accessories that connect via USB-C as a result.

For the user it would mean being able to use fewer cables, unifying everything in a single charger (maybe multiple ports) for all Apple devices and accessories. Who knows, maybe the next iPhone 14 will be the last models with a Lightning port, no matter how much Apple defends that port.
