Brazil summons Neymar, Vinicius and Rodrygo for friendly duels

The Brazilian soccer team called up strikers Neymar, Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo on Wednesday for next June’s friendlies with Japan and South Korea, which will be Canarinha’s first preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The list of 27 players included in Brazil’s penultimate squad before the World Cup was announced by coach Adenor Leonardo Bacchi “Tite”, who admitted that he has few doubts left to define the team that he will take to Qatar.

In addition to the games with South Korea on June 2 and Japan on June 6, the squad will participate in a third friendly on June 11 against an opponent not yet defined.

Brazil had scheduled a friendly with Argentina that day in Melbourne (Australia), but the match was canceled due to commercial problems, so the Brazilian Football Confederation is looking for a possible rival, which could be an African team.

The main surprises in the list released this Wednesday were the return of Gabriel Jesús, an English Manchester City attacker who was excluded in recent calls due to a drop in his level, and the inclusion of midfielder Danilo, who has been standing out as a Palmeiras player .

Gabriel Jesús had lost space in the national team against Raphinha (Leeds United) and Antony and will be able to return thanks to the injury suffered by the Ajax winger.

But Tite clarified at a press conference that he decided to call him up because he was observed in his last games, in one of which he scored four goals and made three assists, and showed that he recovered both his physical condition and his great tactical level.

About Danilo, he assured that he is a player included in the initial list of 50 that the technical commission has observed for the World Cup and that he showed a great evolution in a sequence of important matches for Palmeiras, such as the Copa Libertadores final and the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

He admitted, however, that Danilo won the opportunity due to the injury suffered by Fabinho (Liverpool).

On the other hand, Tite denied that his articulator positions in the national team are limited to Lucas Paquetá (Lyon) and Philippe Coutinho (Aston Villa) because he has already shown that this function can also be performed by an attacker like Neymar or by a Midfielder like Fred (Manchester United).

Regarding the friendlies in July, Tite stated that, rather than observing players, his intention is to take advantage of them to consolidate a team that he already has assembled and allow it to evolve.

After the friendlies in July, Brazil will have another opportunity to prepare for the World Cup in September, in a new FIFA window, in which they will probably face Argentina and Mexico, before making their debut in Qatar on November 24 against Serbian.
