The deputy of the Canarian Nationalist Group, Juan Manuel García Ramos, has today asked the Government of Ángel Víctor Torres, “greater common sense when dealing with the problems with Morocco and not shy away from the powers attributed to it in order to have a more active in this matter.

In this sense, the deputy regretted that the Canary Islands were not present at the meeting between the States, held last Friday, “with the justification that the Autonomous Community has not participated in these forums for 20 years”

But certainly, the current situation has nothing to do with that of previous years: there had been no pronouncement on the most viable solution for the Sahara, there was no increase in immigration with dramatic consequences at sea, there were no two laws enacted that expanded the territorial limit of the waters of Morocco and those annexed from the Sahara, and there were no business interests over the materials that could exist in the Tropic Mountain

García Ramos recalled that it is the obligation of the Government of the Canary Islands to be present, “it is common sense” because historically in the negotiations with Morocco, which affect the Canary Islands, the islands always end up losing”.
