The veteran journalist of RTVE Anna Bosch has denounced before the Information Council of the entity that the current president of the corporation, José Manuel Pérez Tornero, would have tried to violate her freedom of expression. According to the body in a statement, the head of the entity would have summoned her to her office and, in the presence of a lawyer, criticized her professional for a publication made on Twitter. Likewise, she would also have informed him that she had in her possession “dossiers or reports” about it and about the public radio and television presenter Xabier Fortes.
This is stated in its official Twitter profile by the Spanish Television News Council, which ensures that it has granted “protection to a RTVE worker against a possible violation of her right to freedom of expression.” Given this, it has issued a list of “preliminary considerations” in which they ensure that, by virtue of Bosch’s version, she was called to Tornero’s office last May 5 due to a tweet from the affected.

In that “urgency meeting”, the journalist also found the general secretary of RTVE, Alfonso Morales, in the office, who presented himself as a lawyer, despite the fact that the employee came alone. It is a matter of “gravity”according to the organ.
In these preliminary considerations of the case, they stress that “it is unheard of that the president of the RTVE corporation, assisted by a lawyer, summon a worker without a managerial position to his office to reproach her for the content of a message in which Anna Bosch made a mention, without disqualifying, of the exclusive published by ‘Bluper ‘ under the following headline: ‘RTVE diverted budget for promotion of RTVE Play to the Great Consultation, a campaign without impact’.

“We understand that summoning a worker to an office without any kind of assistance, and doing it in the presence of a person who presents himself as a lawyer, leaves Anna Bosch in a vulnerable and coercive situation“, affirms the Council in the statement. In this line, remember that RTVE lacks a regulation of social networks. “[Si considera este tuit improcedente] why the Presidency, as it declared in parliament, considers ‘freedom of expression’ the tweets and criticisms of the work of CRTVE professionals that some members of the Board of Directors carry out on a daily basis, when they are the most responsible for the management decisions and projects of this corporation? Don’t CRTVE professionals have the right to that same freedom of expression, recognized in article 20 of the Magna Carta?”, he asks in the third consideration.
Beyond the alleged recrimination for Bosch’s tweet, the Council also collects the alleged existence of reports about her and Fortes. “Another extremely sensitive issue that worries us is that, at that meeting, according to Anna Bosch’s account, the president told her that he had received ‘dossiers’ or ‘reports’ from her and from the journalist Xavier Fortes. What are the reasons and purpose of preparing these ‘reports’ on these two journalists from the RTVE news? Are there similar reports from other CRTVE professionals? “, Questions the body, which urges” an immediate explanation “from Tornero before” alleged undemocratic practices that contradict the parliamentary mandate for which she was elected.
“We want to believe that the fateful stage in which RTVE blacklisted of workers has been surpassed. In the event that this is not the case, this Information Council will act accordingly,” reads the letter.
