Gimnasia beat Newell’s 3-1 this afternoon with goals from Pablo Pérez and Eric Ramírez in the first half and two from Ramón Sosa at the start of the complement, a victory that was not enough to qualify for the quarterfinals.
In a dramatic match, Néstor “Pipo” Gorosito’s team depended on other results and could not reach the decisive stages of the competition. Both were left with 10 players due to the expulsions of Pérez and Gerometta.
It was precisely Gorosito who spoke at a press conference and said: “The final balance is more than positive beyond the pain. The start was imprecise but we won fairly and we could even have scored one more goal”.
