According to the correspondent of the TV channel, those present at the farewell ceremony were introduced to Beseda as the current head of the operational information and international relations service of the FSB of Russia. The RTVI journalist was not allowed to film the speakers for “security reasons”.

The 5th service of the FSB (Service of Operational Information and International Relations) includes the Department of Operational Information, which, as journalists, intelligence specialists Andrei Soldatov and Irina Borogan wrote, performs the functions of foreign intelligence and is engaged, among other things, in attempts to keep the post-Soviet countries in the sphere of influence Russia. According to journalists, it was this department that was responsible for providing Russian President Vladimir Putin with information about political events in Ukraine on the eve of the invasion.

On April 8, Soldatov announced that Beseda had been transferred to the Lefortovo detention center, and the Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia was dealing with his case. In the UK, information about the arrest and the criminal case Conversations deny.
