Inter remains at 72 points due to the defeat, two less than leader AC Milan. There are still four rounds in the Italian league.
The defending champion had taken the lead early at Bologna. With De Vrij and Dumfries in the base, Inter put pressure and Ivan Perisic took care of the opening goal in the 3rd minute. Bologna, where Jerdy Schouten played the entire match, still scored 1-1 in the first half via a header by Marko Arnautovic.
In the second half, Inter looked for a second goal, but it went wrong on the other side. Goalkeeper Radu missed a goal in the 81st minute on a returned ball. Nicola Sansone was alert and took advantage. The visitors were also unable to score in the long extra time.
Atalanta had one point left in the game against Torino: 4-4. After the opening goal by Antonio Sanabria of Torino, the team of Marten de Roon and Hans Hateboer came to 2-1 through hits from Luís Muriel (penalty kick) and De Roon.
With two penalty kicks from Sasa Lukic and an own goal by Remo Freuler, Torino ran out to 2-4. Atalanta came back anyway. Mario Pasalic scored on a pass from Muriel, who equalized with his second penalty. Teun Koopmeiners was not fit and was missing from the Bergamo club.
Atalanta comes through the draw on 55 points, one less than Lazio and Fiorentina. The club from Florence had lost 4-0 at home to Udinese earlier in the evening. Pablo Marí, Gerard Deulofeu, Walace and Iyenoma Udogie scored for Torino, where Bram Nuytinck played the entire game and Marvin Zeegelaar stayed on the bench.
