Giorgio Chiellini announced, after Juventus’ victory against Sassuolo (1-2), that he will withdraw from the Italian team after the match against Argentina, which will be played on June 1 at Wembley. This match corresponds to the Conmebol-UEFA Champions Cup 2022, in which the champion of the European Championship and the Copa América face each other.
“If I am well I will play and say goodbye to the national team at Wembley, where I certainly lived the peak of my national career and perhaps my career in general (Euro 2020). That victory was something unique. I would like to say goodbye to the ‘azzurra’ shirt with a celebration match like that”, he told DAZN at the end of the match.
