Among those pardoned are six citizens of Ukraine convicted in Georgia

TBILISI, April 9 – Sputnik. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili pardoned 15 prisoners in connection with the anniversary of April 9.

Among the 15 pardoned are seven women who will be able to leave penitentiaries today, as well as six Ukrainian citizens convicted in Georgia.

On April 9, Georgia celebrates the Day of the adoption of the Act on the Restoration of State Independence of Georgia and the Day of National Unity, Civil Accord and Memory of those who died for the Motherland.

April 9 is a public holiday in Georgia. On this day, the country remembers the victims of the dispersal in Tbilisi in 1989 of a rally of thousands of people by the troops of the USSR Ministry of Defense.
