The German Interior Ministry announced plans to strengthen civil defense facilities in the country
German Interior Minister Nancy Feather spoke about plans to strengthen civil defense facilities in the country against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine. On Saturday, April 9, RIA Novosti reports with reference to an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
According to the agency, Feather also talked about stockpiling medical equipment, protective equipment and medicines in case of a crisis. Additional budget will be needed for these purposes. The head of the ministry has already requested funds, believing that the country is going through a turning point, which requires a significant increase in protection, including from military threats.
As Feser noted, work is underway to effectively coordinate and control the voiced processes. The joint center of the federal government and the governments of the states will begin work in this direction in June.
The government recently allocated 88 million euros to disaster and emergency alert systems throughout the country, including for a dedicated mobile application. According to the minister, there are now 599 public shelters in Germany. The dismantling of any civil defense shelters has been suspended.
Earlier, the head of the German Interior Ministry, Feser, reported 383 crimes against Russians committed since February 24 this year: after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the number of crimes of such crimes increased.
