The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, through the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine, has agreed to the provisional immobilization of the megayacht Crescent, registered in the Cayman Islands and 135 meters long and 21 manga, according to the Ministry of Transport.
Now, information will be collected to confirm the real ownership of the private pleasure vessel. Specifically, it will be verified whether or not the property, possession or control of the ship corresponds to a natural or legal person included in the list of persons and entities sanctioned by the European Council as a result of the armed conflict caused by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
It is the third yacht, together with the Valerie, in Port de Barcelona, and the Lady Anastasia, in Port Adriano, which is provisionally immobilized so far this week. This ship, which arrived in Tarragona on November 2, 2021, had requested departure from the Tarragona Maritime Captaincy on March 4, but it did not set sail.
The resolution indicates that the Tarragona Maritime Captaincy, dependent on the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine, will be in charge of guaranteeing the safety of the ship, the navigation, the crew and the port of Tarragona. The provisional retention has been communicated to the head of the State Tax Administration Agency, to the institutions dedicated to the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism and the State security forces and bodies so that they can carry out the actions to verify the information on the real ownership of the ship.
If it is verified that it belongs to a person or entity sanctioned by the European Council, will be immobilized. In this way, the provisions of Decision 2014/145/CFSP of the Council and Regulation number 269/2014, both of March 17, 2014, regarding restrictive measures regarding actions that undermine or threaten territorial integrity, are applied. the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, says the department headed by Raquel Sánchez Jiménez.
