The case shocked the people of San Juan in 2018 when the complaints of three boys who claimed to have been sexually abused by the priest Walter Bustos, who at that time was part of the family’s intimate circle, became known.

The priest turned himself in and was imprisoned on August 31 of that year, when he learned that an arrest warrant had been issued against him due to the result of the interview that the ANIVI psychologists did with one of the boys.

It is that the psychologist who attended in a particular way to the youngest of the young people and another one from Anivi agree that the boy did not lie when he revealed details of the maneuvers to which the priest subjected him between the ages of 9 and 13. But it was the report of the last professional that led the judicial authorities to consider that there was serious damage to the mental health of the victim.

Although at first he had been accused of “seriously outrageous sexual abuse, aggravated by the serious damage to the mental health of the victim and also by being a minister of a known religious cult”, Bustos finally managed to get away and the case was labeled “abuse simple sexual”, for which he was released.

Already in December 2020, the judge of the Third Court of Instruction terminated the investigation stage and decided to take the case to trial. However, since then there has been no news.

For this reason, in the last few hours, prosecutor Marcela Cristina Torres, from Chamber No. 4, suggested speeding up the trial against the priest from San Juan. “I urge the procedure followed against the accused Walter Bustos and to request that the conduct of the acts leading to the trial corresponding to the facts investigated be held,” she requested in a letter.
