But getting a hefty fee at the expense of Meghan Markle was out of the question for Simon Rex. “I was totally broke! I really needed the money. But before I did that, I would have preferred to be on food stamps,” he admitted.
Meghan is said to have thanked him for his loyalty in a personal letter afterwards. “It’s nice to know that there are still good people out there,” it said. The 47-year-old, who was seen in the “Scary Movie” film series, has the piece of paper framed and hanging on his wall.
But how did the press come across Simon Rex? The actor and Meghan Markle previously collaborated on an episode of the sitcom Cuts in 2005. The two were then seen together off the TV set. “It was just that we hung out together once, in a totally undate-like way. She was just someone I met on a TV series and we went out to dinner. That’s it,” Simon clarified in 2020 on the Hollywood Raw podcast.
