The General Directorate of the Merchant Marine has ordered the provisional immobilization of the megayacht in Mallorca Lady Anastasialinked to the Russian oligarch Alexander Mijeev, head of a holding company dedicated to the sale of helicopters and Russian military weapons, to comply with European sanctions against the oligarchs close to Vladimir Putin. The boat, 48 meters long and valued at seven million euros, has been anchored for several weeks in the Port Adriano marina, in the town of Calvià, southwest of Mallorca. On February 26, this pleasure boat was the object of an attempted sinking by its chief engineer, a Ukrainian sailor who opened a leak to try to sink the boat with the aim of taking revenge on its owner for the outbreak of the war conflict after the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
Sources from the Port Adriano navy have confirmed to EL PAÍS that the Civil Guard has sealed off the ship and has been monitoring it since last morning. The crew has been informed that the yacht cannot leave the port following the sanctions of the Council of Europe against persons and entities linked to the Russian Government. The Palma Maritime Captaincy has requested from the navy all the existing information on the ownership of the vessel, to verify whether the control of the ship corresponds to a natural person or an entity sanctioned by the European Council as a result of the conflict arising from the invasion Russian in Ukraine. Although the yacht has only been sealed, sources from the Maritime Captaincy affirm that in a matter of hours she will be blocked to prevent her from leaving Spain.
The withholding has been communicated to the head of the State Tax Administration Agency, to the institutions dedicated to the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism and to the State Security Forces and Bodies so that they can carry out the actions of verification of information on the beneficial ownership of the vessel. She is the second yacht, after the Valerie, moored in the Port of Barcelona, which has been held in Spain since the sanctions against Russia were agreed upon.
The mega-ship was the object of an attempted sinking by its chief engineer, the Ukrainian sailor Taras Ostapchuk, who opened a leak in the engine room with the aim of causing the ship to sink to the bottom of the marina. However, the rest of the crew notified the Civil Guard, who arrested the sailor after confessing that he had attacked the ship. After spending the night in prison, the man was brought to justice and told the duty judge that his intention was to take revenge on the owner of the megayacht, the Russian oligarch Alexander Mijeev, head of the holding company Rostec dedicated to the manufacture and sale of military weapons to the Government of Vladimir Putin.
After being released, Ostapchuk headed for the Ukraine from Palma with the aim of fighting the Russian Army in kyiv.
