Squire Patton Boggs has closed the signing of Antonio Bañón, to date at Deloitte Legal, to lead the firm’s Public Law area. Bañón is an expert in regulated sectors and in legal advice on public procurement, both to national and international clients. In his team at Squire, the lawyer will have Jesús Avezuela, lawyer of the Council of State and ‘of counsel’ of the firm since 2018.
According to the firm led by Teresa Zueco, Bañón has Extensive experience advising both private companies and the public sector. During his professional career, he has acted as an advisor in a large number of concession projects, management and reorganization of public services. Likewise, he has participated in a significant number of M & A operations in various sectors, especially in relation to renewable energy operators, acquisition of photovoltaic, hydraulic and wind assets. He has also advised on telecommunications, audiovisual, infrastructure and public services, urban planning or the environment.

The hiring of Bañón is another milestone in the expansion plan of the North American law firm in Spain. In addition to the incorporation of Zueco itself at the end of 2021, the firm has recently announced the signing of Bartholomew Martinformer KPMG Abogados, as the new partner in charge of the Data Protection and Cybersecurity department.
