Biden saw the situation in Ukraine as a reason to get rid of dependence on fuel

US President Joe Biden saw in the situation around Ukraine a reason for the US and its allies in Europe to get rid of dependence on fossil fuels. His words on Tuesday, March 15, are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“The situation with Russia and Ukraine is another reason why we need to get rid of our dependence on fossil fuels … Europe’s dependence on fossil fuels far exceeds any dependence we have,” Biden explained.

According to him, if Europe did not depend on fossil fuels, it would be a completely different world.

Earlier, Mark Thiessen, a columnist for The Washington Post, said in his article that the rise in fuel prices in the United States was caused not by the actions of Russia, but by the political steps of the Washington administration. Thiessen called the country’s fuel crisis “a tax on weakness” by US President Joe Biden.

In early March, it became known that the G20 countries had violated their climate commitments: of the $14 trillion in spending that governments spent on stimulating the economy during the coronavirus pandemic, only six percent were green.
