You are currently viewing Whatsapp limits forwarding to stop fake news chains

Some time ago, WhatsApp incorporated a function that informs users if their messages and/or the multimedia content they have published have been sent to others more than four times. This is done from a counter that keeps track of resubmissions within the application.

Back then the goal of the update was to prevent misinformation and fake news. In a new attempt to reduce fakes, this week the instant messaging company announced that it would add a new limitation.

“Any photo or video that has the text forwarded many times tagged at the top cannot be forwarded again to more than one group at a time,” detailed the specialized website WaBetaInfo.

The setting will be available in the Beta version of WhatsApp (only suitable for Android system).
