Relatives of Lía Mabel Silva, the 57-year-old woman who was shot in the head yesterday when she was participating in the birthday celebration of one of her children in Villa Alba, today demanded justice for the incident, for which five residents of the neighborhood are being detained. whom the victim knew.
The attackers “are known to the neighborhood, they wanted to force their way in and a discussion started. It was a party and we ended up watching over my old lady,” said Maximiliano Medina (28), the victim’s son whose birthday was celebrated yesterday in our city.
The incident happened around 3 in the morning in a house located on Calle 604, between 125 and 126, when the celebration was taking place and some family members were in the patio, while others were inside the house. . Under these circumstances, a group of young people, made up of four men and one woman, all of them known from the neighborhood and presumably drunk, tried to enter the house to join the celebration. But Silva’s family denied them entry and before that “a brawl began that came to blows,” said the victim’s son.
Although at first the relatives believed that the situation had ended with that fight, minutes later they were surprised by the same group that began shooting at the house. “My mom knew them, they were from the neighborhood,” said a dismayed Maximiliano, who added that he even “knew” one of the detainees as a boy, since he was a teammate of his brother at the club where they played soccer.
According to the young man’s account, the attackers fired several shots and one of them hit his mother’s head, who was rushed to the San Martin Hospital in La Plata, where she died a few minutes later.
As a result of the attack, a 21-year-old man who was with his family was also shot in the leg and taken to the Larrain de Berisso Hospital, where he was treated and left out of danger. Maximiliano assured that he does not know the reasons why the young people acted that way. “I would like this to be a dream, but it is not like that, now we have to live with this emptiness and accompany my father, who is an elderly person, and give him strength,” he added.
As for police action, the young man acknowledged that “the police have already done their job” so now they expect “Justice to act.” For their part, police sources indicated that after learning of the incident, members of the Patrol Command and Villa Ponsati Police Station 16 arrived at the scene and seized at least five 9-millimeter caliber pods, which were seized for expert examination.
Likewise, the spokespersons indicated that based on the testimonies provided, they were able to establish the identity of one of the allegedly involved, for which an operation was mounted at his home on Calle 603, between 124 and 125, after which they were able to intercept and detain a young man who tried to flee on a motorcycle. The detainee identified as Franco Romero Montiel (23), was identified as the main suspect in the attack, the sources added.
In the operation, in addition, a 9-millimeter Ruger pistol was seized, with a loaded magazine and three intact cartridges.
