The British royal is the president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). The organization regrets that William was not in the room, because he is a good ‘public attraction’.
“The BAFTA was told that he could not attend in person this year due to other commitments. It’s such a shame and everyone is very disappointed,” said one insider.

The prince did congratulate the winners of the BAFTAs in a video message. “BAFTA wants to inspire future generations,” said the prince. “Congratulations to all the winners and I wish you a very nice evening.”
Also last year William was not physically present at the award show. Then he missed the award for the first time since the start of his presidency in 2010, because his grandfather Prince Philip had died shortly before.
