Matthias Schweighöfer has landed another Hollywood role: He will appear in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”.
Matthias Schweighöfer (41) continues to stir up Hollywood. The German actor will take on a role in Christopher Nolan’s (51) thriller “Oppenheimer”. This is reported by the US industry magazine “Deadline”. The select cast includes Emily Blunt (39), Matt Damon (51), Robert Downey Jr. (56), Florence Pugh (26), Rami Malek (40), Josh Hartnett (43), Kenneth Branagh (61) and Cillian Murphy (45). The latter takes on the title role.
The thriller is about the US physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904-1967) and the development of the atomic bomb in World War II. The film is based on the biography “American Prometheus” and is expected to open in July 2023. It is not yet known exactly what role Schweighöfer will play. “Best birthday present ever. I’m so proud. This is amazing guys,” the actor wrote on Instagram on March 11, his 41st birthday.
Role in the thriller “Heart of Stone”
After Zack Snyder’s (56) “Army of the Dead” and the spin-off “Army of Thieves”, Schweighöfer can apparently gain more and more ground in Hollywood. Just a few days ago it was announced that he was taking on a role in the Netflix thriller “Heart of Stone”. As “Deadline” reported, he plays alongside stars like “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot (36) or “Fifty Shades of Gray” star Jamie Dornan (39).
