residents of the city of Kievwhich suffer from the heavy bombardment by the Russia, are stockpiling medicine, food and more essentials in preparation for a possible invasion, according to the mayor of Ukraine’s capital, Vitali Klitschko. “Friends! Dear Kievans! The capital, close to where fighting continues, is gearing up for defence. We continue to reinforce checkpoints. We are creating reserves of products, medicines and essential goods”, said the mayor and former heavyweight boxing world champion. In addition, “for the third day,” he said, “the city has been helping the Kiev region evacuate residents of neighboring towns such as Hostomel, Bucha, Vorzel and Irpin,” some of which have been bombed.

“The city still offers passenger transport by bus. And rescuers in Kiev search for people at the train station. And those who want to leave the city are sent by train to western Ukraine,” she added. Klitschko also appealed, as president of the Association of Cities of Ukraine, to international organizations and associations of mayors of democratic countries “about the criminal actions of the Russian occupiers”. He recalled that Ivan Fedorov, mayor of the city of Melitopol, occupied by the Russians a few days ago, was “kidnapped and taken prisoner”. “With the city occupied, the community was left without its elected leader. They want to cripple Melitopol’s livelihood and thus demoralize and subjugate the inhabitants.”
