After four gold medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing, biathlete Johannes Thingnes Boe ends the 2021/22 season prematurely. The 28-year-old Norwegian will no longer take part in the World Cups in Kontiolahti (Finland), Otepää (Estonia) and his home World Cup at Holmenkollen in Oslo.
“I have decided to end the season now. I need some time at home with my family to recharge my batteries,” he writes on Instagram. “The Olympics was a great success for me and I’m very happy with my results. I’m looking forward to competing for the overall World Cup again next season.”
With four golds and one bronze, Boe was the most successful athlete at the Beijing Winter Games. The four-time winner of the big ball is currently in fifth place in the overall World Cup.
