A sailor of Ukrainian nationality has been arrested this Saturday by the Civil Guard of Calvià (Mallorca) for trying to sink the megayacht of his Russian boss docked in the marina of Port Adriano, in the southwest of the island. The detainee, chief operator of the ship, tried to open a leak to sink the Lady Anastasia, 48 meters long and valued at seven million euros, whose base port is the Mallorcan marina. With the intention of taking revenge for what was happening, the sailor entered the ship’s engine room to open several valves and cause a leak that would take the ship to the bottom of the port. Before leaving the ship, he notified the rest of the crew of what he had done, who notified the authorities and managed to prevent the megayacht from sinking, which has suffered damage to the engine room.

When he was arrested by the agents who came to the port, the sailor stated that he had acted out of revenge because the Russian army had destroyed residential areas similar to the one where he lived, and that the owner of the ship was engaged in the manufacture of weapons that could be used in the occupation of the country. The man was arrested by agents of the Civil Guard after the attempt to sink the boat and has spent this Sunday in court in the courts of Germany road in Palma, where he has been released accused of an alleged crime of damage after testifying before the judge.

According to the statement of the sailor advanced by the newspaper Last minute, the owner of the ship is the Russian businessman Alexander Mijeev, dedicated to the manufacture of military helicopters and the sale of weapons to the Russian Government. The Civil Guard tries to clarify who owns the boat, since it appears in the name of a company. The Lady Anastasia It was built in 2001, it has capacity for 10 people in five cabins and an approximate price of seven million euros. It has the flag of Sant Vicent and Grenadines.
