The United States has promised to assist in the evacuation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from Kyiv in light of the Russian operation in the Donbass. This is reported by TASS with reference to an article in The Washington Post.

It is noted that United States officials have been warning the Ukrainian leader for weeks that he is the “number one target” for the Russian military.

A source told the newspaper that U.S. officials had expressed a willingness to help Zelensky and had discussed various security issues, including where he might be stationed.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine published a video with his whereabouts. He stated that together with his associates, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, head of the presidential office Andriy Yermak and adviser to the head of the presidential office Mykhailo Podolyak, he is in Kyiv. “We are all here. Our military is here, we are defending our independence,” the head of the Ukrainian state emphasized.
