The Yazhouwan Innovation Development Zone in Sanya, on the south coast of Hainan Island, has announced the establishment of a large laboratory to research issues related to the development of the tropical seafood industry. As the newspaper reported, “Sanya daily“, more than 30 leading specialists will work in this organization.
The founding ceremony for the Research Center (SRC) took place during a symposium on key issues in marine agriculture. The laboratory was headed by a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Sciences Bao Zhenmin.
“This research center can ensure huge progress in the implementation of our scientific projects, strengthen the innovative potential of the Yazhouwan Science City in the field of deep-sea research and tropical breeding projects. First of all, this concerns the fishing industry,” the academician emphasized.
He clarified that the new research center plans to closely cooperate with the seed laboratory located on the territory of the mentioned innovation development zone. The main objective of this cooperation is to meet the needs of Hainan’s dynamically developing seafood industry.
“Yazhouwan” is located on the coast of the South China Sea and is considered an important strategic object, the main task of which is to stimulate the intensive development of the Hainan Free Trade Port. The area of land allocated for the placement of high-tech enterprises and other infrastructure exceeds 26 square meters. km. Organizations located on the territory of the science city are engaged in the implementation of programs in the field of breeding and modern agriculture, deep-sea research, astronautics, network technologies, medicine and finance. According to the plans of the Chinese government, these research institutes and enterprises should accelerate the formation of an advanced world-class research and production complex on the island.
