A massive power outage in much of the Costa district began around 7:00 p.m. and continues in some affected areas. In turn, there is a weather alert for strong storms and residents and tourists are asked to stay safe.
Some people from La Plata who are there contacted the newspaper El Día to report that the cut reaches from the town of Dolores to the coast. Some of the areas without electricity are Pinamar, Mar del Plata, Dolores, Balcarce, Villa Gesell, Miramar, Pinamar, Tandil, Necochea, General Pueyrredón and General Alvarado, among others.
The company that supplies the service, EDEA (Atlantic Energy Distributor Company) shared a statement through social networks where it gave more details of what happened. According to the information provided, the failure originated in the TRANSBA transport system, which does not belong to EDEA.
Spokesmen for the electricity supply company affirm that little by little the affected localities began to recover the service and in the next few hours it will finish normalizing. The rains were already present in Villa Gesell and surroundings.
In order to keep locals and tourists safe, the head of Civil Defense, Rodrigo Goncalvez, asked to stay in their homes. Likewise, avoid any type of unnecessary exit to the streets since water and storms are added to the lack of traffic lights and lights on public roads.
