The president pointed out that he has instructed Mexican authorities to support the nationals who remain in the European country.
“They are already pending, they have instructions and the Secretary of Defense is helping through the air force so that our countrymen can be transferred to the country. A large plane, we have equipment, ”he indicated.
And he ruled out that the presidential plane, a Boeing 787 that is still for sale, will be used, although he specified that a “large” aircraft of the Mexican Air Force.
“All the procedures and permits to use the airspace in different countries are already being done, the Mexican Air Force is already preparing the operation,” he said.
On Friday, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard had reported that Mexico would send an Air Force plane to Romania to repatriate its nationals residing in Ukraine who wish to return to their country in the face of the Russian invasion.
That day, a first group of 22 Mexicans left by bus for the border with Romania, where they were expected by the ambassador in Bucharest, according to the foreign minister. “It was quite a negotiation that the owner of the bus did not cancel them,” he said.
