This is the most attractive product that the second Alfajor Festival will have, which is celebrated by this town of 1,800 inhabitants, located 36 kilometers from the head city of the party, which bears the name of Gonzáles Chaves, in the southeast of Buenos Aires.
Organized by the local Agrarian Club, the giant alfajor will have 350 kilograms of dulce de leche and 250 kilograms of margarine, among other ingredients, and will begin to be prepared in the morning so that the tasting can take place in the afternoon.
The party with free admission will begin at noon at the site of the former railway in that town.
The organizers reported that “as part of the activities there will be a fair of craftsmen, stoves, demonstrations of shearing and how a 7-wire fence is assembled”, while on Saturday night there will be a popular dance and on Sunday there will be a a country party with lunch.
Juan Salinas, a member of the aforementioned organizing club, commented that “the party was born in 2019 and from that we went to work to make an alfajor, where we saw that there was a party in Córdoba, so the proposal was made to a baker to do it”.
“On that occasion it was done in November, with a good call, and an alfajor of 520 kilograms was prepared,” he added, indicating that after the situation due to the pandemic “now we are going for 600 kilograms.”
