TBILISI, Feb 12 – Sputnik. Turkey and Azerbaijan are stepping up military cooperation – Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan signed a decree confirming the Shusha Declaration, Anadolu agency reports.

The Shusha Declaration has already been ratified by the parliaments of the two countries.

“President Erdogan received a delegation from the Council of Aksakals of the Organization of Turkic States. At the reception, President Erdogan signed a corresponding presidential decree approving the Shusha Declaration, which was adopted by the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey. The decree will soon be published in the government’s official gazette and will enter into force,” the agency sends.

The text of the Shusha Declaration signed by the Presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev on June 15 last year, in particular, states that both countries will act jointly in the event of a threat or aggression from a third state. The declaration also notes that “the parties will continue joint efforts to modernize the armed forces of the two fraternal countries in accordance with modern requirements.”
