A former official who fled Russia 10 years ago was detained in Yerevan. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies.

We are talking about the ex-head of the Tutaevsky district in the Yaroslavl region. Yan Andreev was accused in 2009 of abuse of office, beatings and obstruction of business activities. Then some of the charges were dropped, the rest were acquitted by the court.

In September 2011, the temporarily dismissed official resumed his work, but in December he became a defendant in a new criminal case on taking a bribe. According to investigators, the man left Russia and was put on the wanted list.

The source of the agency said that Andreev was detained, but the decision on extradition has not yet been made, it may take a month or more, in addition, there is a possibility of refusal. This issue is handled by the Attorney General.

Earlier it became known that the former deputy prosecutor of the Leninsky district of the Jewish Autonomous Region (JAO) Nikolai Kolodko was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony for taking a bribe. He will also be banned from holding positions in law enforcement and public authorities for six years. In addition, the defendant is obliged to pay a fine of 600 thousand rubles.
