Cofides, a Spanish public-private capital institution, and Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), the global sovereign investor based in Abu Dhabi, join forces with the aim of identifying potential co-investment opportunities in Spain and strengthen economic and investment ties between Spain and the United Arab Emirates.
The agreement has been signed by the deputy general manager and Corporate and Human Capital director of the Mudabala Group, Homaid Al Shimmari, and the president of Cofides, José Luis Curbelo.
The agreement will allow both institutions analyze business opportunities and investments of common interestwith special attention to Spanish companies and their foreign subsidiaries, as well as investment funds, through a wide range of sectors that include energy transition, sustainable mobility, transport, circular economy, digitization, biotechnology and agribusiness.
In addition, both companies will share their experience and knowledge in opportunities that may arise from both private and public actors, including, in the case of Cofides, projects under the Next Generation instrument of the European Union in the context of the Recovery Plan, Transformation and Resilience of Spain.
The president of Cofides, José Luis Curbelo, has highlighted the importance of this agreement to identify business opportunities that contribute to the long-term improvement of the competitiveness of Spanish companies operating inside and outside the country. Likewise, he has stated that “the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of Spain It is an ideal instrument to promote innovative investmentss in those companies and sectors that are key to economic development in the coming years, highlighting especially, although not exclusively, investments linked to sustainability, the energy transition or digitization”.
In addition to this, he also highlighted that the UAE “offers investment opportunities in areas such as infrastructure and transport, tourism and renewable energies, in which Cofides has extensive and extensive experience”.
