First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Jabarov commented on the resignation of Armenian President Armen Sarkissian. His words are quoted by the radio station “Moscow speaking”.
According to Dzhabarov, the real power in Armenia is represented by the prime minister, so Sargsyan’s resignation is not of great importance for Russia.
“Under the new constitution, the head of state in Armenia is Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. So I think it’s some kind of technical point. The main thing is that there should be stability in the whole republic, ”said the representative of the Federation Council.
On January 23, Armenian President Sarkissian resigned. He clarified that his decision was not dictated by emotions. According to Sargsyan, in the current conditions, the head of Armenia does not have a “constitutional instrument” to help the country, as well as to influence issues of war or peace.
