Gustavo Santos, 44 years old, believes that there are two ways to get old: live and experiment or stay stagnant. In your case, you have no doubts, you want to live risking, following your intuition and making “faith” and “courage” the walking sticks that support all decisions, especially the most difficult ones, such as your separation from Sofia Lima, mother of your children, Salvador, of five years, and Xavier, of almost two, which happened roughly a year ago.

During this period, the writer and speaker continued to live in Avis, Alentejo, while his former partner and children returned to Sintra. The “mourning” of the relationship and that idea of family was done in solitude, without subterfuge, but with the certainty that the children would continue to be her priority. Never failing to listen to his intuition, Gustavo recently put his farm up for sale and is preparing to return to Sintra, in order to have joint custody of his children.

In a conversation about love and what makes you feel at Home, the title of his most recent book, the writer shared the values and ideas that have served as his compass in this story that is always written about affections and new beginnings.

An interview to read in issue n.º 1379 of CARAS magazine
