For the first time in his career, Brady was punished for conduct after a blow that cut his lip

Tom Brady had a new milestone in his career, though not one he’ll be proud of.

This Sunday afternoon the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback received the first penalty of his career for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Divisional Round game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Brady was called for calling out referee Shawn Hochuli after pass-rusher Von Miller hit him in the face with his helmet, cutting his lip.

After the hit, Brady turned to the referee and began to call him out, pointing to his lip and receiving an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that delayed the Buccaneers 15 yards after completing an 8-yard pass to wide receiver Mike Evans.

The Buccaneers’ possession ended with a missed 48-yard field goal attempt by Ryan Succop.

On the first play after the penalty, on second down and with 17 yards to go, Brady, who continued to play with a bleeding lip, connected with running back Leonard Fournette for a 19-yard gain and moving the chains.

Brady has never been punished for making fun of an opponent either.
