Brunico – Sunday, 01/23/2022, 8:24 p.m
In the 41st round of the ICE Hockey League, HC Pustertal defied HC Innsbruck to catch up and won 3:2.
The Pustertalers go into the game much more aggressively and score the opening goal after 10 minutes through Gerlach. The Haie, on the other hand, hardly come into play and even when outnumbered they can’t find a way through the hosts’ disciplined defence, so the lead for the Pustertal team is well deserved.
In the second round, the Tyroleans come into play much better, but fail again and again at Pustertal goalkeeper Sholl. Betker’s failure from the blue line in the 22nd minute led to a counterattack by the Wolves, which Andergassen completed with a shot from the slot to make it 2-0.
The guests create significantly more chances until the second break, but neither McGauley (30th) nor Leavens (38th) can accommodate the puck in the goal. The hosts therefore go into the last third with a 2-0 lead.
Only in the final section, after 46 minutes, did Leavens score the goal for the Haie. The Canadian receives the puck in the slot and gives goalkeeper Sholl no chance with a powerful shot.
Through Dostie, the Haie equalize in minute 53 and open up an exciting final phase. In the 57th minute, Lettner and Hanna have to go to the penalty box, so it’s four-on-four until just before the end of the game. The Wolves can take advantage of that, scoring 3:2 through Kristensen (58th) and making the home win perfect.
After this win, HC Pustertal is in 10th place with 1.472 points per game, the Innsbrucker Haie are right behind them in 11th place (1.417).
