They protest in Michoacán after the disappearance of young people; blame the National Guard

Morelia.- Dozens of citizens went out this Friday to the main streets of the municipal seat of Los Reyes, Michoacan, to protest the disappearance of three young men who were detained by elements of the National Guard on December 8.

The inhabitants of the aforementioned municipality demand that the National Guard assume its responsibility in the disappearance that occurred in the La Higuerita neighborhood. Similarly, they asked for respect from the federal government, which they accused of re-victimizing the victims and their families.

Eunice Ceja Escalante, sister of Gabriel Alejandro, told local media that the Presidency of the Republic denied the existence of a formal complaint. This despite the fact that the disappearance of the young people was reported to the Attorney General’s Office two days after the events.

Ceja Escalante also blamed the government headed by Andrés Manuel López Obrador for trying to care for and protect the image of the National Guard, when the most important thing is locating the disappeared.

During the demonstration, the dissidents met a convoy from the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) and asked a military command to intercede for the family of the disappeared youth before their superiors.
