During the gas level measurement services that the agents of the guard Civil belonging to the Reserve and Security Group and CBRN specialists carry out repeatedly in the different areas of the island of The Palm that have been affected by the volcanic eruption, found yesterday, several dead birds (kestrels and pigeons) in an area belonging to the town of La Bombilla.

After the aforementioned finding, the agents of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), appeared at the scene and were able to carry out the appropriate checks, whose indications indicated that the dead birds found had died due to the high levels of toxic gases. that are being detected and that seriously affect the lives of people and animals.

The bodies of the birds found have been transferred to the Cabildo de La Palma Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for the corresponding necropsy. The Civil Guard reiterates to all citizens residing in the areas affected by the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma, to follow the recommendations that the competent authorities are permanently establishing to protect all citizens from the danger that these levels of harmful gases entail. and that they are capable of producing the death not only of animals, but also of people.
