In the first weeks of 2022, Russia was very active in foreign affairs – it sent peacekeepers to Kazakhstan as part of the CSTO mission to help local authorities in the fight against the “terrorist threat”, and also held talks with the United States, NATO and the OSCE on “security guarantees” in Europe, demanding to limit the expansion of the North Atlantic alliance to the east.
