DECLINE

The recent wave of infections in Mexico is the “last throb of the pandemic” assured the infectologist Alejandro Macías.

Known as the “influenza czar” for his work during the epidemic of this disease in Mexico, the doctor explained that from his point of view the coronavirus “has already reached where it had to go.”

He explained that it is most likely that the increase in infections will continue for a period of two or three weeks, but that from then on, if the correct sanitary measures are followed, it will begin to decrease and the pandemic will gradually end.

His reasoning, he maintained, responds to what happened in South Africa, a country that from his point of view is very similar to Mexico and where, after a growing wave of infections, a decrease in them can already be seen, for which he reiterated that “the last gasp of the pandemic”.

However, despite the encouraging outlook, which he also sees as unlikely that a pandemic of this magnitude could be repeated, Alejandro Macías suggested that the authorities make a call to the population asking to be careful on the street and stay indoors. home if possible, as hospitals could still be filled with COVID-19 patients.
