Eckart von Hirschhausen is quite a well-known personality in Germany, at least for viewers of public television. His prominence stems from a hodgepodge of supposed qualifications: doctor, TV presenter, magician, cabaret artist, comedian and writer, as can be read on Wikipedia. He is therefore considered “Germany’s most well-known doctor” and has achieved this title through television formats such as Hirschhausens Quiz of man or Hirschhausens Check-up a lucrative audience of millions.
Now, surprisingly, the information that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation made the no-nonsense donation of $1,399,984 to Hirschhausen’s foundation Healthy earth – healthy people gGmbH in March 2021. Hirschhausen had founded the foundation just a year earlier, in March 2020. Are there any intersections in terms of content, or how did Bill Gates meet the German doctor, TV presenter, magician, cabaret artist, comedian and book author attentive?
A membership that is not insignificant in this context is missing from Hirschhausen’s Wikipedia biography: membership in the Club of Rome. Hirschhausen reduces his career on the side of this “non-profit organization” to his activities as a doctor and scientist. He is also named as the founder of the foundation that has now been favorably considered by Bill Gates. Hirschhausen’s motivation for membership in the Club of Rome reads to interested readers of the site, with a small wink of the withheld humorous streak, as follows:
“For me, the Club of Rome means a network of committed people who all think globally and think outside the box, even though the earth is not flat.”
Under the biography section Memberships you will also find the information: “Honorary member of the Charité Berlin” and “Ambassador of the BMZ SDG 3.” With BMZ SDG 3, Mr. von Hirschhausen would like to work on the project Agenda 2030 Clues. SDG stands for: Sustainable Development Goals. So far, this has been financially supported as a worldwide initiative by the German Federal Government with over one billion euros. The definition of the goals, the Agenda 2030, reads: “The Agenda 2030 for sustainable development was adopted in September 2015 at the UN sustainability summit. It comprises a total of 17 goals that cover various topics and is considered a milestone in global cooperation for example protecting our seas, gender equality and reducing social inequalities.”
The organization operates worldwide and is considered to be well networked. The identifier or symbol for the content and active support is a small pin:
The private fortune, which was acquired with ease, results from the already mentioned cooperation with ARD and ZDF as well as various bestsellers as part of regular book publications. His first book was published in 2007. It is advertised as a “humorous work” on the subject of health. Since then, Hirschhausen has regularly published funny, tongue-in-cheek books on his actually serious core topic of health. The math works out, his books with titles like Is this a joke? A comedian comes to the doctor, Where does love go when it goes through the stomach? or The liver grows with its tasks regularly end up in the top three of the sales charts.
The portfolio package of doctor, comedian and author works very well financially together with regular television activities. So good that Hirschhausen, of course completely altruistically, decided at the turn of the year 2019/2020 to set up the now well-known and well-cared for foundation Healthy earth – healthy people gGmbH to found. Apparently, Hirschhausen was undergoing a strategic change in the focus of its content at this time.
In February 2020 he will write a first foreword to his new main topic – the climate. The foreword leads into a book entitled No ice, no polar bear one. Another foreword to the book will follow in August 2020 Project Green Zero – Can we live climate-neutral?
In April 2021, Hirschhausen was an online participant at the 127th DGIM Congress of the German Society for Internal Medicine e. V. (DGIM). The theme of the congress was: “Learning from the crisis”. According to the organizer, the focus of the meeting was “on the connection between climate change and health”. Hirschhausen “contributed a top-class panel discussion followed by a press conference to the program,” according to his foundation’s website. One guest in this group was Lothar Wieler, who in November 2021 also received almost $500,000 from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Robert Koch Institute.
In May 2021, two months after the transfer from Gates, Hirschhausen’s first publication on his new financial hobby horse was released. The title of the book: Man Earth – We don’t have to save the earth, but ourselves. The blurb shows the direction: “A virus keeps us in suspense and we slide unchecked into the climate crisis. It’s slowly dawning on us: health is more than pills and machines.”
The donation guru Gates also published the book shortly before, in February 2021 How we can prevent the climate catastrophe on the market. Same tenor: “Climate change is a unique global problem that we can only solve together.” Just a coincidence?
In May 2021, Hirschhausen was invited to the Ecumenical Church Congress 2021 on behalf of the faithful. You can read about it on his foundation website:
“Digital Bible work on climate change. At the Ecumenical Church Congress 2021, our founder Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen, together with our speaker Fernanda Wolff Metternich, interpreted the Bible passage ‘How were your eyes opened | John 9:1-12a’ with regard to climate protection and health protection. “
In October 2021, Hirschhausen was a speaker at the World Health Summit in Berlin. He is quoted as saying:
“Doctors are there to protect life, to point out health hazards and, if necessary, to deliver bad news. And the bad news is: We are about to destroy the livelihoods of us humans on earth forever. That’s unfortunately scientifically proven, but not everyone is aware of it.”
The head of the company was also present BioNTech, Ugur Sahin. In October 2021, he and his wife Özlem Türeci received an honorary doctorate from the Philipps University of Marburg. In January 2022 it was announced that Eckart von Hirschhausen would become an honorary professor at Phillips University in Marburg. His inaugural lecture was entitled “Language and climate change in medicine”. Is it all just coincidences?
However, Hirschhausen was already used or, depending on your point of view, convened in his new core topic Crisis-Climate-Health. So in September 2020 as part of the “Week of Civic Engagement”. In the category of environmental, nature, climate and animal protection, the title of the event was “Climate change and health: Digital Mercator Salon with Eckart von Hirschhausen”. The introduction explains:
“‘Our mother earth is sick, she has a high fever that keeps rising.’ Many know Eckart von Hirschhausen as a doctor with a lot of humor who combines science and entertainment with his medical cabaret. But he has also been a passionate climate protector for years. With his newly founded foundation ‘Healthy Earth – Healthy People’, he thinks climate change and health together. “
Hirschhausen has been demonstrably, whether consciously or unconsciously, strategically built up in the past few years, like Annalena Baerbock, Jens Spahn or Cem Özdemir – over the Young Global Leaders Club, Klaus Schwab and his World Economic Forum.
In addition to aspiring careerists in politics, the Agenda 2030 for the latest and upcoming messages, however, also multipliers from the entertainment industry. As the financial support from Gates proves, Eckhardt von Hirschhausen, a multi-talent, was deliberately included, pushed and promoted in the circle of self-proclaimed “world changers and improvers”.
One of Hirschhausen’s book titles reads Happiness rarely comes alone. In the limited version of a gift box from 2009, the publisher’s text explains: “The happiness doctor advises: positive feelings are the best anti-aging program. The happiness box instead of botox! Because happiness rarely comes alone … it comes in your personal treasure chest: the happiness diary , to find out about your happiness.”
At that point, Eckart von Hirschhausen had no idea how good luck would be with him. Bill Gates isn’t exactly considered a joker, otherwise Hirschhausen’s first foundation, founded in 2008, might already be for him Humor Helps Heal noticed. Gates was and is primarily about personal profit maximization and not the well-being of people, so the idea of the foundation was probably not worth investing in. Humor Helps Heal tries to integrate humor into clinics and nursing homes by establishing professionally trained clowns.
Humor is when you laugh anyway? The events of the past two years, the start of government work with the participation of the Greens and the announcement of further restrictions on the modest existence of millions and millions of people in this country will soon show how many have unfortunately lost their laughter or will get stuck in their throats , when you hear the name Eckart von Hirschhausen.
