Another specialized site (seatemperature.info) stated for a January 15 that “based on the observations of the water temperature in the last ten years, the warmest sea in Mar del Plata on this day was recorded in 2009 and was 21.2°C, and the coldest was recorded in 2020 at 18.6°C.”

“Sea water temperature in Mar del Plata is expected to drop to 20.8°C in the next 10 days. The average sea water temperature in January in Mar del Plata is 20.2°C, the minimum temperature is 17.8°C, and the maximum is 22.9°C,” they noted.

Last year, on January 27, the sea surface temperature in La Feliz reached 24.3 degrees, the highest record since 2013, as confirmed at that time by the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development (Inidep).

According to a report from the Physical Oceanography Office of the institute dependent on the National Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, that day the mark reached was the highest since this series began in 2013 with daily measurements by the Station. of Coastal Observations (EOC).

“The temperature rose to 24.3 degrees Celsius, higher than the maximum monthly record of 24 degrees, from January 2014, and even the absolute maximum of the series, of 24.2 degrees, recorded in February 2015”, reported the Inidep.

The institute also pointed out that since last Thursday the 21st, “The sea surface temperature exceeds 25 percent of the highest values ​​recorded in January” since 2013.

The institute indicated that the measurements are obtained with a digital thermometer located in the EOC of the Naval Hydrography Service, on the dock of the Mar del Plata Fishermen’s Club.
