State records an increase of more than 1000% in the moving average of infections by the coronavirus; in Manaus elevation reaches almost 2500%
One year after the health chaos, with patients from Covid-19 dying from lack of oxygen, the amazon face a further downturn in pandemic. The state registers an increase of more than 1000% in the moving average of cases of the disease. The greatest growth was identified in Manaus, with an increase of almost 2500%. Inside, the moving average rose 211% in the first 13 days of January. The advance is associated with Ômicron variant. The Secretary of Health of Amazonas, Anoar Samad, clarifies that, despite the increase in contamination, the variation in the number of deaths by Covid-19 does not follow the same proportion. “In the last four days, we have had 5,000 confirmed cases of the variant. It is very important that you complete your vaccination schedule. Very important now, in these next 15 days, to avoid these agglomerations in any way. Keep wearing a mask, alcohol gel, keep your hands always clean,” he said.
In view of the situation in the state, the Sectorial Committee to Combat Covid-19 decided to postpone the start of the face-to-face school year of the state public education network to February 14. The governor Wilson Lima will also recommend that the private network also adopt the deferral. “Until then, we will assess how the cases of Covid-19 and other respiratory syndromes evolve. All this is for the safety of education professionals, students and parents, at this moment that we are on alert”, he pointed out. The State also decided to cancel the samba school parade in Manaus. Amazonas also adopted the return of some health restrictions, such as a ban on events with ticket sales and a limitation of up to 250 people in private events. The street carnival was also canceled in the capital.
