A man barricades himself in a Barcelona apartment after shooting two people

Two people have been injured by firearms in a scuffle that occurred early this afternoon in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona and the Mossos have cornered the alleged perpetrator of the shots in a flat.

Numerous police officers, including a Mossos helicopter, are deployed in the area, since the author of the shots remains entrenched in a flat on Maresme street since approximately 3:00 p.m. The agents have been notified at 2:45 p.m. that two people were injured by a firearm in the street.

The Catalan police have informed Efe that there is no fear for the lives of the two injured people, who have been treated by the Emergency Medical System (SEM). Both They are admitted to the Hospital Sant Pau and the Hospital del Mar in Barcelona.

The circumstances in which the events occurred are unknown at the moment and if it was an exchange of shots between the victims and the now entrenched or shots fired by the person who remains in the house.

In recent months there have been several shootings in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, including the one that ended in November in Sant Adrià del Besòs with the life of Valentín Moreno, who had been convicted of the murder in 2000 of a young man in Vila Barcelona Olympic.

Moreno was shot twice, one of them in the head, and died after spending a few hours in critical condition at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital in Badalona.

The previous month, in October, there was a shooting without injuries in the Barcelona district of Nou Barris and another occurred in the Santa Caterina neighborhood, with one injured, and in September there were two shootings also in the La Mina neighborhood, with several people injured.
