VIDEO: Camille Griffin and her son Roman speak last night

Last night, the directorial debut of the British screenwriter and filmmaker Camille Griffin, is a black comedy and Christmas horror film, whose premise represents the concerns of the moment in which we are living. Quite a satire on climate change, the pandemic and the uselessness of the government in times of crisis. The story is also guided by a choral cast of adults and preteens, who shamelessly bring out their darkest secrets and thoughts in the face of a tragic and inevitable end.

The film stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode (Downton Abbey; The Crown), Annabelle Wallis (Evil one), Lily-Rose Depp (The king), Sope Dirisu, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Lucy Punch, and Rufus Jones. While the preteen cast is made up of Roman Griffin Davis; twin brothers Hardy Griffin Davis and Gilby Griffin Davis, and Davida McKenzie (sister of Thomasin McKenzie).

We talk with Camille Griffin and his son Roman Griffin Davis (whom, by the way, you surely remember in Jojo Rabbit) about this peculiar film that will elicit laughter thanks to its elegant English humor, but at the same time it will be depressing, terrifying and very reflective. The director shared with us the genesis of this audiovisual story and, together with her son, reflected on the fears and feelings they faced as a family when filming Last night. They also discussed whether they believe that fear and lack of courage are the greatest threat to humanity. Plus, Camille Griffin answers why she thinks fictional storytelling is the best way to explore complex moral issues and real-life issues.
