The Mexican health regulator announced on Friday the authorization for emergency use of the Paxlovid pill from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer to treat adult patients with mild or moderate covid-19.
In early December, the Mexican authorities already endorsed a combination of two injectable drugs from the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company to care for patients with the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Paxlovid has already received authorization in several countries. At the end of December from the Food and Drug Administration of the United States (FDA, for its acronym in English) and the health agency of the United Kingdom, MHRA.
Mexico has already passed 300,000 deaths from coronavirus and is immersed in a fourth wave of infections, now driven by the Omicron variant, while the Government continues with the vaccination of its population.
