Judge sets final sentencing date for Jeffrey Epstein's mistress

The District Court for the Southern District of New York has set a final sentencing date for the mistress of the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, Ghilain Maxwell. The decisive hearing in the case of sexual exploitation of minors will be held on June 28, 2022, RIA Novosti reports.

The decision was made by District Judge Alison Nathan. The sentencing of the financier’s girlfriend will begin at 11:00 (19:00 Moscow time).

Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of trafficking underage girls for pedophile businessman Jeffrey Epstein in late December 2021. Damian Williams, Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said the jury found Maxwell guilty on five of six counts, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking in persons under the age of 18. She faces up to 65 years in prison.

The American billionaire is considered guilty of creating a criminal network that allowed him to sexually exploit girls, including 14-year-olds, and mock them. According to some reports, he was involved in human trafficking until 2019. He was detained on July 6, 2019 in New York, and in August of the same year, he allegedly took his own life in a prison cell without waiting for a trial.
