Sinéad O’Connor was hospitalized just days after the tragic death of her 17-year-old son.

‘Nothing Compares 2U’ singer Sinead O’Connor, 55, has told fans she is in hospital just days after the death of her son Shane. She had a very special relationship with him, the singer explained on Twitter.

Shane was just 17 when he tragically took his own life.

O’Connor posted several tweets on Twitter Thursday night, where she reported suicidal thoughts. Among them is a post describing how she felt “Shane’s death was nobody’s fault but my own,” while telling her followers she’s in the hospital after contemplating taking her own life break up.

Her tweet read in the evening: “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I’m with the police now on my way to the hospital. I’m sorry that I upset everyone. I’m lost without my child and hate myself. The hospital will help me for a while. But I will find Shane. This is just a delay.”

Sinéad, who changed her name to Shuhada Davitt in 2018, opened up earlier this month about how her son tragically took his own life after struggling with his mental health.

Earlier this week, the 55-year-old shared details of his son’s funeral after police confirmed they had found her dead. She explained that a Hindu ceremony would be held at his request, with only the singer and his father Dónal Lunny (74) present.

“Shane was Hindu, so the funeral will only take place in the presence of his mother and father. That was also the wish that Shane expressed in his farewell letters,” said O’Connor and also told the fans where they were going with flowers or other objects to commemorate them, if they wish.

Sinéad O’Connor: “If you would like to send something to Loughlinstown Hospital Mortuary, please send flowers or Hindu items. Alternatively, flowers or Hindu items can be sent to Newlands Cross Crematorium. The ceremony will take place on Thursday.”
