You are currently viewing Eugenia Osborne’s emotional letter to her deceased mother, Sandra Domecq: "I think of you every day"

On August 13, 2004 he lost his life Sandra Domecq, ex-wife of Bertín Osborne, after a long and hard battle against cancer. His death left his four daughters in deep sadness: Alejandra, Eugenia and Claudia, the result of his marriage to the presenter; and Ana Cristina, who was born from her relationship with businessman Fernando Portillo. Seventeen years have passed since his death but his memory is still very present in the family. Proof of it is the precious tribute that his second daughter has paid him on the day of his birthday.

“Today you would be 68 years old. It’s been 17 years since you left but I think of you every day. I think of telling you what has happened to me during the day, the anecdotes of your grandchildren, asking you for advice on life and work, hearing you laugh or get angry (now I laugh remembering you angry)”, recalled Eugenia, who was very young when her mother passed away, she was just 18 years old.

“Everyone who was lucky enough to know you remembers you with so much love and affection that I couldn’t feel more fortunate that you were my mother. You were so special, beautiful, funny, spiritual, wise and magical! I hope to be with you again, although not too soon. Happy birthday”, accompanied these words with a black and white photograph in which Sandra appears posing in a flamenco dress.

Eugenia has stressed on more than one occasion that her mother’s main purpose was that the four sisters remain unitedboth in the good and the bad times. Their motto, precisely, was “one for all and all for one”, a message that they continue to keep very present in their day to day: “My mother instilled it in us when we were little and I think it is the best legacy she left us”.

Bertín explains to us that he burst into tears in ‘My house is yours’

His death left a great void in his environment, not only in his daughters, but also in his ex-partner, Bertín Osborne, who has been moved on occasion when remembering Sandra, with whom he was married for 14 years -from 1977 to 1991-. In ‘Mi casa es la tuya’, for example, I can’t help crying when I listen to Cai, one of Niña Pastori’s most famous songs, as you can see in the video above this paragraph: “It reminded me of my whole time de Jerez and reminded me of Sandra, it was a very nice moment”.
